PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Fused Cast Beta Alumina Block SR-H
Introduction
Fused Cast Beta Alumina Block (also known as Fused Cast Beta Corundum Block) is a high-purity, premium-grade refractory material dedicated to the superstructures of modern glass melting furnaces. Manufactured by melting high-grade alumina powder in an electric arc furnace and casting it at extreme temperatures, its crystalline structure consists a majority of dense, interlocking β-alumina and about 2% of α-alumina.
Because it contains zero glassy phase and features a unique crystal matrix, it exhibits exceptional resistance to volatile alkali vapors, high thermal shock resistance, and ultra-low exudation rates. It is the gold standard for sealing the non-glass-contact high-temperature flame spaces of premium glass tanks.
Advantages
l Maximum Resistance to Alkaline Vapor Erosion
The β-alumina crystal lattice is structurally saturated with alkali ions, meaning it does not react with or absorb aggressive volatile sodium/potassium vapors in the furnace, completely preventing peeling and spalling, ensuring structural integrity and extending furnace lifespan.
l Zero Glassy-Phase Exudation
Contains no matrix glassy phase. At operating temperature, it releases zero nepheline drops or exudation liquids, eliminating the root cause of stones, streaks, and bubble defects in high-end glass.
l Outstanding Thermal Shock Resistance
The large, interlocking, leaf-like plate crystals provide the matrix with remarkable flexibility and thermal stress relief, granting it significantly better thermal shock resistance than alpha-alumina blocks in high-temperature zones.
l High Refractoriness Under Load
Maintains rigid structural strength and superior volume stability at long-term continuous operating temperatures exceeding 1700°C without sagging or deforming.
Applications in Glass Furnace
Fused Cast Beta Alumina Blocks are strictly designed for non-glass-contact areas and superstructures where heavy alkali vapor and high temperatures coexist:
l Melter Crowns & Main Roofs
Application: Widely used in the melter crowns and arches of float glass and specialty glass furnaces. Resists the intense upward heat and batch dust, drastically lengthening the campaign life of the furnace roof compared to traditional silica bricks.
l Breast Walls & Gable Walls
Application: Applied in upper sidewalls, breast walls, tuckstones, and front and back gable walls exposed to volatile flames. Prevents chemical erosion from high-concentration alkali vapors, keeping the upper masonry structure clean and intact.
l Oxy-Fuel Furnace Superstructures
Application: Ideal for oxygen-fuel combustion zones where water vapor concentrations are high. Perfectly withstands the highly corrosive alkaline liquors formed in oxy-fuel atmospheres, where other refractories fail prematurely.
l Port Necks & Regenerator Entrances
Application: Deployed in gas port chambers and ports leading to checker works. Withstands rapid temperature fluctuations and volatile chemical drafts.
